For undergraduate courses at most universities and colleges, applications should be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), a centralised clearing agency. UCAS will get back to students once the application passed through all universities. This process will take a period of up to 2 months.
Completed forms should be returned to UCAS between the 1st September and 15th January of the previous year, or by 15th October for a medicine course. This does not apply to international students, and although it is advisable to send UCAS forms the soonest possible, UCAS forms can be processed up to June of each year.
A core benefit of Edextra services is that students can take advantage of a quicker and simpler application process. This is done through direct application forms that are sent to and processed directly by the university. In this way students can have an answer to their application within a few days in comparison to a larger period that usually takes UCAS to respond. The direct application process is official and is permitted between universities and their overseas representatives.
Students can also benefit from Edextra services because of the rolling admissions procedure which permits university applications to be passed at any time throughout the year. However, applications received prior to 1st June (for October admissions) and 1st November (for January admissions) will have the best chance of successful enrolment for an applicant’s first choice of university.
